Weekly Report 22/1/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jan 22, 2010 9:11 am

Estuary: Dusky flathead are still providing anglers with good catches each day, especially on the run-out tide. Sand whiting have also been a hit with anglers most days with reports of good fish up to 40cm being landed out the back of Lani’s Caravan Park on the sand flats. Bream are slowly coming out and can be caught around the leases on soft plastics or peeled prawns. One report was a catch of 9 fish in 2 hours, all around the 700g mark.
The Wallamba River is still working well with most bream caught very close to the bank while they are chasing prawns. Work the lures close to the shore, within 60cm, to get results. Good mud crabs have been taken from the Wallamba with still plenty of blue swimmers being caught down near The Step.
Mulloway again have been taken from the harbour breakwalls on live baits or 9” soft plastics.
Rock: No reports this week.
Offshore: Very good reports from offshore with plenty of quality snapper being caught each day. Chris from Forster Beach Caravan Park landed a nice 10.6kg red during the week after a 15-minute fight on 6lb braid after it took a 7” soft plastic in 10m of water. Other good reports have been received with reds around 5kg plentiful. By-catch of trag have filled the boxes each day.
Beach: Bream and dart are being taken on frozen or live sea worms.
