Weekly Report 19/3/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Mar 19, 2010 10:32 am

Estuary: Fish everywhere! Locals and tourists alike are going home each day with a mixed bag ready for the dinner plate. Shore-based anglers fishing at the end of Point Road are being rewarded with nice flathead up around the mid 40s plus good quality bream. The pick of the baits here has been Hawkesbury Prawns. Little Street Baths are producing nice bream at night fishing with little or no sinker and floating baits out into the channel. Those heading into the lake should try the drift around the back of Mosquito Island for flathead on whitebait or concentrate around the floating oyster racks with small hardbody lures for bream. Blackfish have arrived en masse with good reports of fish up to a kilo off the breakwall near the black moored boat on the flood tide. Plenty of nice mullet running the breakwall every day. Plenty of mud crabs still in the lake system.
Rocks: Only one report this week, of spotted mackerel being caught at Charlottes Head. Those that wish to chase them should try spinning for them or drifting a bait of either strip mullet or pilchards. An absolute outstanding table fish so good luck to those that land one. Bonito still plentiful.
Offshore: No reports.
