Weekly Report 2/7/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jul 02, 2010 11:46 am

Estuary: The bream are certainly firing well with good reports from most areas around the Lake. The best bream last week was 930g but this week I have weighed in 6 bream over a kilo and one yesterday just shy at 987g, all caught at The Paddock working the racks with small chunk lures. A few early school holiday makers have also been rewarded using bait with one lady from Bathurst landing 2 bream and a large flattie on striped tuna fillet drifting behind Wallis Island.
Blackfish are still performing well with one customer waiting on the shop door last Saturday morning with a good bag of 13 fish all caught in 2 hours along the breakwall on Tuncurry side. The wall at the end is still a good choice for those happy with a mixed bag of bream, tailor and small jew.
Rocks: Shop regulars are still reporting that Janies Corner is fishing well with plenty of reports of nice greenback tailor along with some nice bream.
Offshore: Good jackets still around causing havoc for those trying to get through them to the snapper. Fish with a good wire trace and avoid brass swivels or similar. A few boys went out wide on Monday night and were happy to come home with a few teraglin after a few chilly hours. They left the shop with large school prawns and squid as their baits. For those that wish to chase them I have a few marks in the shop and am happy to pass them on.
Beach: Not much to report on the beaches other than the regulars that chase tailor each day are still landing fish.
For those heading to the Great lakes over the school holidays we will be open 7 days a week from 8am.

g'day
Was wanting to go out and fish for a few leather jacketts, was wondering if you had any good marks around forster or crowdy area, and whats your best line and method you use to catch them.
