Weekly Report 11/2/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:21 pm

Estuary: Crabs and more crabs seem to be the catch of the week with outstanding reports of muddies and blue swimmers. The blue swimmers have been landed in areas around Tonys Island, Dago Island and along the shore at Green Point. Mud crabs in the Wallamba River are still around and I have received reports that the edges near the Cattle Crossing are producing good-sized crabs. Forster Keys also has the locals well stocked with muddies off most of the pontoons. Extra-large flathead have been lurking around the Inspectors Jetty with big females over 85cm common this week. Cobia reports along the breakwall along with some good-sized jew around 20lb . Nice bream among the racks on small hardbody lures. And a hairtail caught in the lake near Barclays!
Rocks: Charlotte Head is fishing well with small to medium kingfish plentiful along with an abundance of bonito. Janies Corner fishing well for tailor and bream.
Offshore: Still plenty of bonito in close. ‘Flathead the size of cricket bats’ are on the gravel beds on the drift using fresh bonito or mullet strips. Reports of trag around 75cm up north off Blackhead. Reefs still fishing well with plenty of nice squire. 17 members from Lakes & Ocean Hotel FC fished last Sunday for a total of 79 fish weighing at 42.8kg. Reports were of mixed bags.
Beach: Very little to report other than a few tailor.
