Weekly Report 25/3/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Mar 25, 2011 12:17 pm

Estuary: I fished The Paddock last Saturday afternoon on the run-out tide for some flathead (mid 40cm) on DOA Shrimp lures. I added a nice bream to the bag caught on unweighted bonito strips around the oyster racks.
Reports of kingfish around 70cm cruising Breckenridge Channel chasing mullet. Large mullet in good quantities have been caught near Regatta Island around the Beaky Bay entrance. Plenty of good reports of blackfish caught around the end of Point Road plus the back side of Tern Island. Schools of herring still plentiful around the lake.
Rocks: No reports.
Offshore: Peter Lovell from On Strike Charters reported of a great week aboard his boat. Good snapper mid-60cm, trag, nannygai and large flathead have been common most trips. All fish were caught south. Plenty of other reports of legal snapper caught north off Diamond Reef along with Trag after sunset. Plenty of birds working straight off One Mile with Robbie Thorrington reporting good catches of bait among the birds.
Beach: Still plenty of tailor on Nine Mile and Seven Mile beaches. Salmon have been landed on the southern end of Nine Mile next to the breakwall. Blueys Beach is producing nice bream on mullet strips or bonito if you can get through the tailor.
