Weekly Report 19/8/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:59 pm

Estuary: The lake has eventually started to look good with clearer water now common after the heavy rain earlier in the month. The run-in tide seems to be working the best for those that can wet a line before sunrise, particularly around the leases just up from the bridge – this area is loaded with quality bream. Anglers fishing close to the bridge pylons most mornings are coming home each day with some nice bream around 800g to a kilo. The trick is to fish light and let your bait drift down with the tide. Try bonito fillets or tuna fillets, these disperse an oily trail as an extra attractor. Jim Freeman and Paul Clarke have fished inside the leases over the past week and have successfully bagged bream and blackfish each day, along with an oversize tarwhine of 800g. The black boat on the Tuncurry Breakwall is still producing plenty of blackfish.
Rock: Bob Martin landed a few good quality drummer down near Boomerang Beach on black crabs. A few tailor have been spun up on Raider lures off Bennetts Head.
Offshore: No reports this week.
Beach: The beach is still fishing well with Seven Mile down around Tiona producing good tailor. Bream are being landed in the gutters on sunset on Nine Mile up near the back of Tuncurry Tip. A few dart and salmon are schooling along One Mile.
