Weekly Report 19/5/12

Post by Tony Zann » Sat May 19, 2012 1:52 pm

Estuary: Mulloway are still on the bite along the breakwall with one visitor from Hornsby FC landing a 30kg monster on Tuesday. Smaller fish up to 15kg have been common with most anglers getting a fish or two each day. The Paddock and the western shore of Godwin Island are producing good bream on the run up. As reported before, fish lightly and get a berley trail happening to get results. A few blackfish are around with boaters getting them among the leases, while Tuncurry Point up from Boatland Marine is working the best from the shore.
Rock: No reports
Offshore: Plenty of trag still around at night plus cobia are thick. Commercial fisherman Scott Smith on Orca landed six cobia in a session. Adding to the catch Scott reported plenty of good size mack tuna around plus heaps of bonito. The normal gravel grounds like the Barge are producing flathead around 50cm, while snapper are around on the local reefs. Plenty of garfish off Pebbly Beach.
Beach: Quality greenback tailor off Seven Mile down at the back of The Ruins. Tuncurry Beach is firing well with tailor and small mulloway on the high water. Old Bar is still full off smaller mulloway on the northern end near Lanis Caravan Park.
