Weekly Report 10/6/12

Post by Tony Zann » Sun Jun 10, 2012 2:22 pm

Estuary: Luderick have schooled up well in the lake and are taking cabbage along the Tuncurry Point shoreline. Fish up to 1.5kg are there along with plenty around 1kg. Bream of 35-39cm are still around in good numbers, try small Ecogear soft plastics on a Hidden Weight supplemented in a light berley trail for success. Try areas such as the entrance to the Wallamba River near The Cut or Beaky Bay along the racks. Small mulloway are travelling along the breakwall and taking plastics and live baits.
Rock: Drummer are everywhere along all town shorelines. Fish from 1.5kg to 3.7kg are common and are happily taking cooked prawns. Groper are in with them and are of similar if not bigger size. Watch out, though, toads are everywhere as well and will take your gear. Fish heavy to get through the toads with a minimum of a size 1 ball sinker to speed up the drop.
Offshore: With 8m seas this week, nothing to report!
Beach: Tailor and bream are still the pick with Seven Mile and Nine Mile working well. The south end of One Mile is producing some nice bream on mullet fillets. The heavy seas this week will form some new gutters plus increase the food source so hopefully good fishing should come.
