Weekly Report 23/11/12

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 23, 2012 2:32 pm

Estuary: Wallis Lake is starting to provide anglers with better than good results over the past week. Whiting are en masse down around Green Point and happily taking Poppers on the surface, while the whiting in the channel behind Tern Island will take cooked prawns or 2” Gulp worms. Bream around the oyster racks are big, broad-shouldered and are being caught late afternoon on Squidgy Bug soft plastics on very light resin heads or light jigheads. Tuncurry Breakwall at night is producing a few good jewfish plus plenty of bream. Flathead are along the Breckenridge Channel and on the drift near The Cut. A few school jew are taking livies up among the racks late at night.
Rock: Kingfish have started to inspect areas around the Tanks and will take a metal spinner. A few bonito are around the Hawke and will only increase as the weather warms more. Still a few pigs around and heaps of stuff we don’t want to take home are causing plenty of bait losses.
Offshore: Reef fishos are getting a feed each trip with mixed boxes of trag, pearl perch, snapper and morwong. About 30ft seems to be the depth that most fish are being caught in at the moment. A few boats have travelled out to the FAD over the last week but have reported only the odd kingfish.
Beach: Plenty of sand whiting off Elizabeth and Blueys beaches late afternoon and just on sunrise. Still a few jew around but all reports have come from northern areas from Diamond Beach up.
