Weekly Report 25/1/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jan 25, 2013 3:27 pm

Estuary: Another great week on Wallis lake with flathead and whiting abundant for all. Flathead have been smashing the 70mm Live Shrimp lure with some reports of a fish a cast. The back of Tern Island on the run-out tide is producing the best results land based or from a boat close to shore. Whiting anglers are getting a bag limit each morning with fish up to 38cm. Tuncurry Breakwall near the rock pool is also loaded with flathead happily taking whitebait or plastics. A few good reports of mud crabs around Forster Keys and up the Wallamba River at Nabiac.
Rock: A few holidaymakers have reported Janies Corner firing well early morning for bream up to 45cm. Hawkesbury River prawns were the pick of the baits along with a little berley to entice the fish. Closer to town The Tanks is fishing well with small rat kings taking metals.
Offshore: Still plenty of reef fish around with one boat getting 14 snapper all around 55cm between 3 anglers up north off Blackhead in 30m. They then added 9 flathead to 67cm off the gravel on the way home.
Beach: Jewfish are still lurking around Blueys Beach at night taking live bait or large whole squid. A few tailor have appeared on Tuncurry Beach up around the back of Tuncurry Tip. Miles of dart on each beach to keep the kids happy.
