Weekly Report 15/2/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Feb 15, 2013 2:17 pm

Estuary: Mulloway have been the catch of the week with plenty to be caught along both Tuncurry and Forster breakwalls using a mix of plastics, large squid or livies. Fish around 80cm are common. Tuncurry Breakwall down on the end is also firing well for quality bream up to 1kg. Paul Curry and son got into the flathead along the Wallis Island shore on the run-out tide during the week. Paul reckons that the Zman Minnowz are the only plastics that work now! A few whiting have schooled up again near the bridge and will take pink nippers or worms.
Rock: Bream and tailor seem to be hanging around Janies Corner, with good catches most days this week. A few drummer caught around Burgess Beach rocks early in the week on lightly weighted prawns.
Offshore: Reports of reds up to 3kg, trag and good pearl perch down near Seal Rocks. Flathead up to mid-60cm common on the gravel beds. Reports today that the water temp in close has risen so the next few days should see some good fishing.
Beach: Blueys and Boomerang are fishing well for bream late in the afternoon this week plus plenty of small jew around. Half-way down Seven Mile near Booti Booti has plenty of whiting taking worms. Further up Seven Mile, local fisho John Kramble has reported that tailor are thick and good-sized greenbacks are common. Tuncurry Beach 3.5km along from the Tuncurry drive-on is also fishing well for tailor.
