Weekly Report 7/6/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:33 pm

Estuary: Bream anglers are delighted with the way the lake is firing at the moment. Several reports have been received this week of quality fish up to the mid-30cm caught just on dusk. The recipe is fish light, berley up a little and use a Hawkesbury prawn as bait. A soft plastic will also get results. Leatherjackets are in under the racks and around structure, while blackfish are patchy along the wall with mixed reports. Mulloway chasers are getting fish late in the evening on live bait or squid.
Rock: Still waiting for drummer to start up although there seems to be plenty of blackfish and bream in the washes. Early morning I have been told is fishing the best and again a little berley will entice the fish to bite. Charlottes Head is working well with some good kingfish and tuna chasing metal lures. A few boys fished Flat Rock on Monday to land two kingfish and a small cobia.
Offshore: Not much to report other than some good snapper in close up north around Blackhead while down south I hear that the Graveyard is still loaded with trag. Bonito are around everywhere plus in along the Tanks schools of good yakkas are around for the live-bait boys.
Beach: North Tuncurry Beach is loaded with tailor with the majority being caught on ganged pilchards. Seven Mile has a few mulloway at night in the Camp Elim area along with plenty of sharks.
