Weekly Report 2/8/13Estuary: Warm water is still hanging aro

Estuary: Warm water is still hanging around the lake and this is holding fish in good numbers. Blackfish are still everywhere from the breakwall right through the lake system up into the oyster racks. Reports of fish around 800g have been common. Bream are still taking baits on the top of the tide. Today I had a report of some large whiting schooling along the deep edges of the Breckenridge Channel that will take a beachworm if enticed.
Rock: Bream seem to have started to move in quite close along most ledges. Of course August is the start of the real good drummer fishing so get down the rocks on a rising tide. A few locals have also been getting blackfish late afternoon on cabbage.
Offshore: Not much to report other than a heap of 55-60cm flathead on the gravel. Blackhead Reef is producing smallish but legal snapper along with a few pearl perch near the Graveyard.
Beach: Seven Mile southern end seems to be the only spot that I am receiving good reports from. Tailor up to 60cm taking garfish along with a few good quality Bream. Patchy reports from Nine Mile – there one day gone the next, it seems.
