Weekly Report 27/10/13

Post by Nicole Penfold » Sun Oct 27, 2013 10:41 am

Estuary: Another good week on the lake with Whiting still being the pick of the bunch. The Wires at Tuncurry just on sunrise has been producing nice size Trumpeter plus a few added bonus Flathead along the back shore of Tern Island. Some have fished with baits of Sandworms but the anglers that have chosen soft plastic 2” Worms have outfished the bait boys this week. The back of Lani’s Caravan Park off Tony’s Island is also firing well for the guys that like to use poppers – Stiffy Popper FRV is the pick. Bream at night are in a feeding frenzy up at Failford near the cattle crossing. A good dose of berley and a peeled unweighted Hawkesbury Prawn will get results.
Blue Swimmer crabs have also started back, with witches’ hats picking a feed up down near Dago Island. Residents backing onto the Wallamba River have reported that Mud Crabs have started well.
Flathead are on the Flats on the run out Tide, no bag limits as yet but those fish caught are all good fish around the 50-60cm mark. Chopper tailor are schooling near The Cut chasing baitfish on Sunset.

Rock: A few successful anglers are getting amongst the Drummer near Bennetts Head. Spearos tell me that there are plenty of Tailor along the rocks along with big Bream feeding along the ledges.

Offshore: Still plenty of Trag at night and early morning plus the gravel grounds are producing nice Flatties up to 65cm. Further north off Blackhead in 30m of water, snapper to around 2kg are common while a few Nannygai are also lurking around the reefs.

Beach: Sorry, no reports other than “it’s quiet on the beach”!

Drive and boat safely!
