Weekly Report 28/03/14

Estuary
I fished down the back of Mosquito Island last Sunday afternoon on the run out tide for some nice plate size flathead using 89mm Ecooda Live Shrimp lures. Casting these lifelike lures up onto the flats was putting the Flathead into a frenzy. Fish for cast went on for 15 minutes at one stage. Adding to the Flatties, bream - some legal and some just under - were also caught on Pink Nippers along the washboards of the racks in the Paddock.
Reports of a few Garfish down on The Step while a few Blackfish are starting to hang around Tuncurry Point taking Nippers as bait! Mullet in good quantities have been caught near Regatta Island. Schools of Herring still plentiful around the Lake and down along the breakwall.

Rock
Only one report in from Janies Corner with plenty of Tailor taking ganged Pillies late afternoon.

Offshore
Still miles of Bonito everywhere. Plenty of Bait fish along Bennetts for those wanting a few liveys. The FAD is loaded with Dolphinfish - heaps of smaller legal fish to be caught with still the odd ‘bull’ coming up. Trag on the chew at night.

Beach
Tailor are starting to go on the bite. The best report I had was 17 fish one morning off Tuncurry Beach. Good size Jewfish caught on the beach side of Tuncurry Breakwall on Friday morning weighing in at 9kg. Diamond Beach is producing Bream on beach worms at the back of the resort.
