Report 02/05/14

Estuary
The autumn weather has certainly played into the hands of local anglers with reports of nice 1kg plus bream being caught in the Lake on either baits or Live Shrimp lures. The pick of the baits is Mullet Gut and as mentioned in other reports a bit of burley to entice the fish will not go astray. The breakwall is still fishing well with a few nice Mulloway up around the early 70cm mark are being landed on the last of the run out tide. Reports of a few Northern Blue Tuna have been caught off the end of Tuncurry Breakwall. Plenty of feedback of Tuna smashing up baitfish along the beach and breakwall ends. Blackfish are still plentiful along the Tuncurry breakwall although sourcing green weed or cabbage is proving hard to come by. Plenty of Mullet in the harbour plus the lake is full of them!

Rock
A few reports of Tuna off Charlottes Head from the LBG boys. Plenty of tailor off Bennetts Head taking Garfish. Janies Corner working well for a few Bream and tailor on dusk.

Offshore

Plenty of large quantities of baitfish being spotted on the surface in many offshore locations being chased by Mack Tuna. However these reports are not being turned into good catches. Offshore is a little quite this week with only a few reports of the normal basic reef fish. Snapper, Mowies and the start of a few big Leather Jackets is about all I can report. Flathead are there but only just legal. Trag on the chew at night along with patchy schools of Bonito off and on.

Beach
Fairly quiet. The odd tailor off most beaches along with plenty of Dart. Diamond Beach has had a few Jewfish taking worm baits late afternoon early evening.
