Report 20/06/14

Estuary
Point Road west of the boat ramp and along the western end of Tern Island has fired well this week for those chasing luderick. Good size leatherjackets happy to chew on cooked or green prawns with a small split shot and a long shank size 8 hook is the pick of the rigs – simple but effective!
Flathead have been active along the Tuncurry side of the bridge taking Mullet Strips. The bream now have seem to have migrated back up into the lake however good-sized fish are still among the oyster leases at night taking unweighted prawns. Further up stream I have had good reports of nice fish being caught at the back of the Tuncurry Tourist Park in Chapmans Rd.

Rock
Not much to report this week.

Offshore
This week’s calmer conditions have allowed a few more anglers to head offshore. Plenty of Trag in the normal spots however marks in the 40m range have been the most successful. Good-sized reds have been caught in close off Black Head in about 15m early morning while later in the day the 30m mark is working well. Mowies are being caught around Haydens Reef. Out wide good size Kingfish are there plus Bar Cod on the shelf are there as well.

Beach
The first Salmon report came into the store today – it must have been a lost fish as only one was caught! The tailor being landed are large fish with some fish around 4kg mark with a few greenbacks thrown in. One Mile Beach near Bennetts Head is producing good bream along with a few small school Jew at night.

Our store has again been nominated as a finalist in the AFTA Best Tackle Store national awards. If you like what we do, vote for us at
