Report 22/08/14

Estuary
The lake is a little dormant at the moment with August always being a hard month to fish. However, saying that it seems that the Blackfish are back in numbers with a few anglers coming into the shop today with stories of good catches. Get up early on sunrise and head down amongst the leases or along the shoreline of Wallis Island and I am sure that you will get a keeper bag full of fish. A few keeper bream are still around although it can be hard work. Rising tide, in the leases, light tackle, a hit of burley now and again a Hawkesbury green prawn and hang on is what I am told. The fish that are there are frisky and are happily taking tackle into the leases and leaving you with no fish. The locals that fish for these fish are saying lock the drag down quick and drag the fish out. A few Flathead are starting to hang around with small hard body minnow style lures working well along sandy bottoms.

Rock
No reports again!!

Offshore
A few better than good snapper are on most reefs waiting to swallow a bait. Baits like squid and pilchards are the best floated down a burley trail. These fish are in the 35 metre mark and most fish are caught north of town. Pigfish are also on the reefs as are a few Leather Jackets out in deeper water.

Beach

The beach is a bit quite at the moment with the best catch being a feed of Tailor or Bream. Nice Tailor have been caught on both Metal spin lures plus the old faithful ganged pilchard. Bream will settle for a bit of Gut bait or a beach worm.
Hang in there Guys – Spring is just around the corner!
