Report 31/08/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Sun Aug 31, 2014 1:30 pm

Estuary: Rain everywhere and every day will of course get things moving in the next week or so. A good bit of fresh dirty water is starting to fill the lake which will get the bream active. Let’s wait and see. Blackfish have been around still in good numbers with most fish in excess of the 35cm plus mark. Some reports are fish up to 45cm being pulled out of the racks in the deeper water. Good catches have been reported each day from anglers targeting the Forster Breakwall. Whilst talking breakwalls I have had plenty of good reports of Jewfish along the Tuncurry wall. Most fish were all just legal although one fish was landed measuring in at 94cm on Tuesday afternoon. Soft plastics are about the only thing that is working with Zman 9” Curly Tail grubs very popular. A few guys are telling me that Kingfish have been sighted chasing yakkas in the Forster Marina area and along the Breckenridge Channel. Jim Freeman reported that a few Trumpter Whiting have moved into the top of the Lake.

Rock: No reports again seas are far too big!! Try next week as the seas will certainly produce alot of food along the rocky shorelines.

Offshore: As above – a bar crossing with 5m seas just doesn’t cut it!

Beach: Tailor and salmon are still around along Seven Mile with the northern end working the beat close to Janies Corner. Bream are biting on beachworm baits and are active just on daylight most mornings.
