Report 24/10/14

Estuary: Another bonza week of fishing in the lake with Whiting still grabbing lures and baits readily. Sand Whiting have started to school up near the bridge but I am told that pre sunrise is the time to get amongst them on the rising tide. Further up the Lake around The Step and Wallis Island you will easily get a bag limit of Trumpter in no time. A soft plastic worm will work as will a Golden carrot 2” Live Shrimp lure. Bait fishos are having no problems landing fish by using local beach worms. Check out the Flats on the run out tide for a few good flathead plus some good catches of Bream have been hauled out of the oyster racks on sunset. Whitebait is working well for both species. On the crab front both Swimmers and Muddies are around with the best results coming out of Pipers Bay and up the Wallamba River shorelines.

Rock: A few Chopper Tailor are about chasing metal lures from Forster town rocks right through to Boomerang and beyond. Bream numbers will get you a feed while a few good Blackfish have been caught using weed flies.

Offshore: Not a lot to report other than in close the charter guys have managed to get amongst some good Flathead. A few Bonito have been spun up off around Seal Rocks lighthouse by locals.

Beach: The nor easters have played havoc a bit each day however after dark Jewfish anglers are getting results. Diamond Beach and north up to Old Bar and Farquer are all getting results. Whiting continue to be on the increase with early morning again the pick using beach worms.

This week's special: Ecooda Live Shrimp at 4 for $20, and 7” and 6” Fillet knives with sheath at $15 each.
