Report 2/4/15

Estuary: Blackfish have made their way into the Lake and have been rewarding all those that chase them with good fish most days being landed around the racks. Those that are able to obtain good quality green cabbage have fished the best although this is scarce. The main breakwall early morning has fished well with quality bream being caught along from the Fish Co op. Both sides of the breakwall this week have also produced some nice Jewfish. Lunds whole squid, live bait and soft plastics have all worked. The Lake and the lower reaches of the Wallamba River near the Mud Cut is still producing nice Flathead on the last hour of the run out tide. Early Wednesday morning saw a few guys get their bag limit of fish all around 40cm mark using Zman Plastics. Crabs are still plentiful with most fisho’s getting a feed.
Rock: In close off Blackhead small plate size snapper are taking half pilchard baits likewise down south at the back of Seal Rocks the same but bigger fish are being caught. Nice Bream are around Burgess rocks along with some big Blackfish.
Offshore: A few guys from a Sydney fishing club have spent the week in town on their annual holiday and have been kind enough to provide us with good reports throughout the week. Gravel beds are loaded with Flathead to about 60cm. Strip baits or squid have been the bait. Out wide in about 30m of water the guys have landed good bags of Snapper while at night they got amongst the Trag. Out at the FAD the Dolphin Fish are blanketing the water with every boat this week coming home with at least 10 -15 fish all around the 70cm mark. Bonito are everywhere for those that want an easy catch of fresh bait.
Beach: Nine Mile beach at the back of the Tuncurry caravan park is fishing well with nearly all anglers coming away with Tailor early morning using Pilchards on a gang hook rig. The beach has also provided a smattering of Bream as a good by catch along with the pesky Dart. I am hearing that down south the beaches are performing well with some good Sand Whiting taking beach worms.
To those that are visiting Forster/Tuncurry over Easter we will be open every day from 8.00am till 5.00pm for all your requirements and info on top spots. Pop in and say Hi!
