Report 15/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 15, 2015 1:44 pm

Estuary: A great week in the lake with Bream numbers increasing by the day. The dirty water from the recent rains has certainly pushed alot of fish into the lower estuary system with The Paddock fishing well. Bream averaging from 33cm up to 42cm have been common with some anglers landing 6 plus fish of this size a session. Gut baits or a unweighted whitebait have been the pick ogf the baits. Lure anglers have also done well with a few Kayak guys getting great results throwing Saku Chubby style lures into the racks. A good run of Flathead this week has also been reported with the new Samaki Thumper tail lure a big success on these fish on the flats. The breakwall is firing with Bream and tailor plentiful along with some just legal Jewfish taking either Live baits or whole Lunds Squid.
Rock: Drummer down along Burgess Rocks have been taking flesh baits if they can get them before the small reddies don’t. Reddies around the 1.5kg mark have been in good numbers also from the shore taking whatever baits are thrown at them. A few guys spun up some thumper Tailor on metals early in the week down south.
Offshore: A week of huge seas has not helped the cause here so nothing to report.
Beach: Tuncurry Beach has some nice Tailor half way along and have been accompanied by some cracker Whiting taking beachworms. Bream have been reported along the southern end of Seven Mile along with Seal Rocks beach last Sunday. Reports are that Sharks are in big numbers on the beaches feeding in the dirty run off water.
