Report 22/5/15

Post by subeditor » Fri May 22, 2015 2:09 pm

Estuary: Tuncurry Breakwall is firing well with the plenty of quality Bream and Jewfish being caught. Anglers are reporting that fishing the end of the wall is getting the best results for the bream. Mullet are also in mass with good schools along the wall and up in the Lake. Fishing the bridge pylons has also had bream all around the 35cm mark bing caught on the rising tide using chicken gut as bait. Coolongoolook River is producing some nice Flathead on Live Shrimp Lures or a unweighted Hawkesbury Prawn fished into some light burley.
Rock: Reports are that all fishable rock ledges have large Drummer present at the moment. Black Crabs, Cunji or prawns are the best baits to chase these fish with some good strong gear – hang on as these fish will dive for cover quick. Extra Large Bonito have been spun up along The Tanks along with a few good size Tailor as well.
Offshore: Plenty of Bonito still around as are the Mahi Mahi around near the FAD. Snapper Rocks has some good sized Spanish Macks amongst the Kingfish. Good reports of quality Snapper up north in about 15m of water caught before sunrise. Forster Sportsfishing Charters reports that outwide is fishing well with plenty of BarCod on the shelf along with Kings and Jews in the shallower water.
Beach: Beaches are starting to work well with plenty of reports of both Tailor and Salmon taking metal lures or Pilchard baits. Quality Bream up to the 40 plus cm mark are being landed along Tuncurry Beach plus a few are also around in the corner off Elizabeth Beach.
