Report 3/7/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Jul 03, 2015 2:49 pm

Estuary: The main breakwall is still producing nice quality fat sized bream. Fish the slack water and top of the tide for the best results. Fishing with Mullet Gut has the fish going into a frenzy! Good reports of nice fish both bream and Tailor at night under the main bridge on the Tuncurry side. Blackfish are on the bite now along the wall plus amongst the racks with some anglers doing very well whilst others are struggling to land a fish. Get on the wall early to get a spot!
Black Rocks off Coomba Park has produced catches off small snapper up to about the 1.5kg mark along with some good bream amongst them.
Rock: Still good reports from the local guys with great catches of Drummer being landed. Janies Corner is firing at the moment with plenty of reports of Greenback Tailor up around the 4kg mark common at dusk while some good Trevally have been lurking around as well. Blackfish are plentiful as well.

Offshore: Looks like the Leather jackets have arrived with plenty of reports of ‘missing’ tackle along with some thumper fish making their way back to the tables. Big Snapper have started to frequent the nearby reefs up north with some fish being caught in 10 metres off Blackhead. Trag and Pearl Perch have been active down south along with still a good smattering of large Bonito. Further south around Seal Rocks the commercial fisherman have played havoc all week with the resident seals ‘knocking off’ their catch. I am told that it is virtually impossible to get a feed once the seals move in with every fish bought to the surface grabbed along with your tackle.
Beach: Plenty of reports from the regulars that still a plentiful supply of Tailor on both Seven Mile and Nine Mile. Gutters along Tuncurry beach behind the sporties club is full of fish each afternoon. Ganged pillys are the pick however chrome spinners are still working well.
