Report 24/7/15

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jul 24, 2015 4:50 pm

After a few weeks away with the family here is the latest...

Estuary: Not a bad week considering all the inclement foul weather that has been around. Plenty of good reports of stacks of Blackfish along the breakwall and the shoreline on Point Rd. Working the afternoon on the run out tide is getting the best results. However, a few keen anglers have also reported that early morning just on sun up is producing results that most would be happy with. Tuncurry Bridge have worked well for those chasing bream at night. Floating bait down along the pillion is working well with bream around the 800gr mark common. Fish light with a gut bait and a small ball sinker to suit the current. Breckenridge Channel has had a few 6-8kg Kingfish chasing baitfish most of the week. The fish have been spotted around the “Amaroo” Ferry berth.

Rock: Janies Corner is working well by spinning metals along the rock ledges. Large Tailor up to 2kg mark have hit them hard. Basic ½ x ¼ flats or Surecatch Knight Metals seem to be the best at the moment. Blackfish are lurking all the shorelines mixed in amongst them are quality bream.

Offshore: Offshore is still firing with the 30m mark producing quality Reds and at night plenty of Trag. The Barge is fishing well with miles of good size flathead up to the 60cm mark. All reefs are still producing outstanding results with Reds up and over the 4kg mark. Blackhead reef out wide from the Bowling Club is another hot spot at the moment for those that want a close reef with results.

Beach: Most beaches are firing with plenty of Tailor along with the odd Salmon. A couple of guys got amongst the greenbacks off One Mile on Tuesday night while chasing Jew. Some good reports of big bust ups off One Mile which anglers say are large Jew. Still plenty of nice sea bream along Seven Mile with the northern end near Janie’s the best. Further north reports of plenty of Jew up off Manning Point with 17 fish caught and tagged last Sunday night with the best fish measuring in at 1.29m.
