Report 14/8/15

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Aug 14, 2015 2:39 pm

Estuary: All reports have come from the Breakwall with plenty of Bream and Blackfish on offer. Most mornings are firing for anglers chasing Blackfish while Bream guys are getting a feed anytime of the day. Bream have been quality with reports of fish in the 800gr plus mark while the Blackfish are ranging from 500gr up to the 1kg plus mark. The trick in catching the Bream is to fish very light and keep your cast in close to the rocks. Whitebait is the pick of the baits, although plastics will still work rigged on a light jighead. The leases are also loaded with Blackfish for those who want to venture out into the Lake. Flathead reports are still coming in with Chris Riley getting 9 legal fish from his Kayak during the week fishing in water waist deep. Saku hard body lures are the pick here with our stock ‘swimming’ out the door.

Rock: Good size Bream are hanging around with a couple of visitors from Victoria landing a good bag full between them of 13 fish on Tuesday using Mullet Gut and Blue Bait. They were fishing near Latitude Rock with all fish over 33cm and solid. They reported that they got broken off on another 6 or so right on the rocks. Plenty of Blackfish and Drummer to be caught with most ledges producing fish.

Offshore: A little quite however a few good plate size Snapper are there to be taken. Burley Trails and Soft Plastics on light heads is the mix of how to catch these fish. Flathead are still there to be taken and will grab anything dropped down to them. Don’t be surprised to pick up afew double hook ups as they are thick down below. A few commercial guys have hinted that Trag are on a night along with some nice Pearl perch around down south.

Beach: Seven Mile is working well late afternoons with John Davis getting amongst some nice Tailor just on dark. John reported that the fish hit hard until dark, then all went quite. Jewfish came on after dark just on the high tide. Tuncurry Beach has produced some bream along the edge of the breakwall. Whole Pilchards or strips are the pick of the beach baits.

With Fathers Day just around the corner why not pop in and grab a bargain? Samaki Rods and Tonic Sunglasses are less 20% till Fathers Day.
