Report 29/1/16

Estuary: The Wallis Lake is still firing well with plenty of good catches of flathead with fish up to 55cm mark regularly being landed. As always for the best results try and fish the last few hours of the run out tide with white bait and Hawkesbury Prawns the pick of the baits. For the soft plastic anglers most used lures such as Gulp 3” Swimming Mullet in Pumpkinseed, Plazos prongs or Squidgie Bloodworm Wrigglers. Whiting numbers are still there with early morning anglers getting a good feed. The fish are still falling for our ‘marinated’ red worms which are by far the most outstanding Whiting bait we have ever sold. If you want a feed there is plenty of fish to go around, so get amongst them and grab a tasty feed.

The Wallamba River is still working well for bream on hard body lures like a Saku crank. Up above the weir at Nabiac I am hearing plenty of good reports of Bass being landed on surface lures under the canopy of trees along the bank.

Plenty of crabs still around and with the Prawn Dark starting this weekend make sure you are kitted up with a good quality cotton prawn scoop or if not stay in bed!
Rock: Good reports of nice Tailor being caught on ganged pilly’s off Burgess Rocks. Some nice Bream are around and will take cunjevoi baits or a lightly weighted prawn bait.

Offshore: A week of good reports with plenty of Plate size snapper on the boil up off Old Bar. The northern end of Nine Mile beach in close along the rocks is also doing well. A few guys got some Nice Pearl Perch are adding to the day as a By catch. Out wide the FAD has some good size Bull Dolphin Fish around with some fish up to 12kg reported. Although the normal troubles are happening with some disrespectful anglers trolling lures in close and catching other boats lines. Three close troll bys and it is good bye fish so guys play it cool and let everyone have a chance.

Water temps are up at 25 degrees out wide so Bluewater sport fishing is on the go. Last weekend a few boats landed some nice Black Marlin while plenty of others lost fish on hook ups.

Beach: The beaches are fishing well with scattered reports of big Sand Whiting in close on Nine Mile taking beach worms. Late night anglers have been rewarded with a few nice Mulloway are being caught again on a ball of worms on a single long shank hook.
