Report 19/3/16

Estuary: The Lake and the estuary system is performing quite well at the moment with many anglers landing quality bream on the rising tide along the washboards of the racks. High water amongst the racks is also working well with top water lures the pick. Fish this week all have been the 1kg mark plus with some guys getting a bag limit all this size. Bait Fishos are using Hawkesbury Prawns or a small fillet of Slimy Mackerel. Flathead are around but for reasons unknown they seem to have gone off the bite to what they were a few weeks ago. The fish that are being caught are good size and range from 40cm to 55cm with a few big ones in amongst them. The Blackfish have moved in nice and early with plenty of fish caught this week early in the morning. Good fish up to 700gr have been caught with all fish still schooling up in the oyster leases and up in the lake. No fish have migrating down along the wall as yet. Crab numbers are holding with Pipers Bay a good pick for Blue Swimmers while the normal areas on the shoreline along the Wallamba River will get you a good feed of Muddies!

Rock: A few guys have mentioned that a few good Blackfish are on the rocks along with some good drummer. Bream are in mass and will take almost any bait. A few small rat kings are there for taking so if you are spinning a lure you may well get amongst them.

Offshore: Slimy Macks are in large quantities along the shoreline around Bennetts Head and out a bit wider. Most nights have rewarded guys with some nice Trag up north whilst the plate size reds on most reefs are still common with fish around the 25 metre mark. Dolphin Fish have been taking lures around the FAD with a few big bulls around the 15kg mark being speared.

Beach: Tailor reports are getting stronger by the week with fish up to 4kg being landed on the Tuncurry Beach. Top of the tide is the pick and fish are taking both metal slice lures like Knights or ganged Pilchards. Bream are there as a good By Catch as are a few good Flathead.
