Offshore anglers have been getting kings around the island most days this week. There are lots of undersize fish but plenty of keepers among them. Most have been caught on jigs and stickbaits.

On the bottom fishing side of things, it's been a bit tricky fishing for snapper and flathead because the hordes of slimies have been robbing baits. The estuaries are full of bait as well, mostly slimies and pilchards. You should fish underneath these bait schools for the best results. Anglers have been getting tailor up to 60cm and flathead up to around 55cm. A few people have reported seeing kingies working the bait schools, but we've had no reports of anybody actually catching one.

We're just over the full moon so next week everyone will start prawning again. Most lakes have plenty of prawns which are up to a reasonable size now.

Catches on the beaches have mainly consisted of salmon with some bream.
