The estuaries are going really well, and we're seeing a bit of everything. The flathead have slowed a little bit but it's still worth looking right up the back of the estuaries in shallow water, and working around the bait schools. You’ll find the flatties there. There's also some good bream fishing to be had, and a lot of salmon and tailor in the estuary at the moment.

It's also worth taking a squid jig and having a look around the weed beds, as there are some cracking squid around at the moment.

The channel itself is holding some big stud bream, but you’ll want to fish on the turn of the tide.

The beaches are fishing really well for both salmon and tailor, and it's worth having a spin off the rocks as there are some good bonito floating around in close.

Out at the island and on the reefs, the snapper are starting to come in. They're still out a bit deeper so you'll want to concentrate on working the deeper reef.

Out wide it's a bit hit-and-miss; the water temps are a little bit funny. Some good bigeye tuna were caught the other day, and there's still the odd marlin. One of the charter boats here has been doing a bit of deep dropping as well, and has been getting good catches of hapuka, ling, blueye trevalla and perch.
