The summer whiting have arrived on the Southern Beaches although they are not in any real numbers. As soon as we get a good southerly blow they will be out in force but so will the netters so make sure you get a few before they get grabbed as they usually do. They are coming from Woody Bay, opposite Koolamara, from red beach and opposite Cornets. They are also on the Surf beaches and around Skirmish Point. The winter whiting are still on the go and the Cockle banks, the mouth of the Pearl Channel and from the red buoy in Deception Bay. There are a few flathead around with the whiting and are best fro Red Beach, Buckley’s Hole, from the Jetty, from under the bridge and from Sandstone Point as well as from the Sylvain Beach sand flats. There are decent snapper to 3 kg coming from the Ripple and Whitepatch.

There are also a few jack showing up in the Canals so worth while having a look there for a jack or two. There are a few decent bream coming from the jetty, from the canals and from the surf beach. The offshore fishing is not too bad at present with some good quality cobia around the shipping channel, a few school mackerel in the same area and some long tail tuna coming from Tangalooma and from Western Rocks. There have been a few yellowtail kings coming from around Hutchies and a nice striped marlin taken from here of Hutchies last week. Back in the passage there are few mulloway still around the jetty and the bridge at night. Also the sand crabs are on the improve below the Bridge.
