I would suggest that spring (summer) is about here and a few hot days will see the end of spring and summer will be here in no uncertain terms. I believe that the hot weather we are now experiencing will bring the summer species around – fish like Mangrove Jack, grunter bream, trevally, threadfin salmon etc. also the mud crabs will be on the menu. At the moment we have some good whiting around at the moment if the netters have left any of that later. There are some decent mulloway around and are coming from Glassy, from the channels and from under the bridge at Bribie. There are also some excellent flathead coming from the sand flats and from around Donnybrook and also from the Caboolture River at Beachmere. There are good numbers of long tail tuna in the bay as well as the passage. There are good summer whiting around the front beaches some sand crabs below the bridge and the odd mud crab around Ningi Creek. There have been a few spotted mackerel around the Shipping Channel and over around Tangalooma and a few school mackerel with them. Unfortunately it was very windy early last week and the boaties could not get out in any sort of comfort to fish. There have been a few tailor around but seem to portbe patchy but are around Buckley’s Hole and up around Mission Point.
