It has gone very quiet around here as well since the whiting have been eliminated there are still a few along the front beaches but it will be a fair while before they start coming in again. There are a few flathead around and they are best from the Jetty, opposite Cornets on the sand flats there, from under the bridge and from around Sandstone Point. The winter whiting are still around in good numbers and are coming from the Cockle banks and around the Red Buoy in Deception Bay. There are a few smallish bream around and the canals are the best bet for them. Try around the Ripples for the odd good snapper and also from Whitepatch for a sweetlip and a snapper or two. The sand crabs are around in good numbers and are coming from below the bridge. There is not much more around here as there are no jacks, or any other summer type fish around. Try for a mulloway from under the bridge as they have been there in good numbers lately but seen to have moved on. If we get some hot weather the fishing may liven up a bit.
