The summer whiting are starting to trickle back to the Southern Beaches and there have been a few taken from there lately, however there are some good winter whiting around and are best from the off the sand hills around Moreton where there are some very big winter whiting coming in. The flathead are going quite well at the moment with the sand flats opposite Cornets, from around the Bridge area and from the Sylvain Beach flats as well as from Sandstone Point all are worth a try. There have been a few good quality snapper coming from the Ripples. There are fair quality bream coming from the canals and from Ningi Creek around the oyster leases. There are a few sand crabs around but no numbers as yet. They are best below the bridge. From offshore the fishing has been excellent for small black marlin, a few quality cobia and some top quality mia-mia. There are some very large cobia around the shipping Channel and they are hard to stop. But be gentle with them as most of the really big fish are females and are here to spawn.
