Weekly Report 6 Dec 12

:D Welcome to Spero - A new reporter for Moreton Bay
Nice couple of days on Moreton Bay with a 5 knot northerly winds early morning. We went out looking to catch some tasty whiting with my wife and a couple of friends on the Sat/Sunday. Friday was great but a little blowy with N/W winds picking up a little early and making it uncomfortable. The fishing was very good with nice size whiting between Harry Atkinson's reef and the green and red markers to the start of the Rouse Channel ..the whiting have been here for some time now, so a feed is pretty easy to catch with a few blood worms and peeled prawns. Drifting still works best.the slime that was in the water has finally disappeared.

Sand crabs have been very good in the last couple of weeks in front of Wynnum and around Green and St Helena Islands, but slowed down last couple of days. Water temp has risen this week so the early run of female spotty mackerel cant be far away, lets hope its a good season because they are lots of fun to catch. School mackerel have been plentiful around the go slow beacons in front of the big sand hill on Moreton Island, the best method is a paravain with a 3 inch spoon trolled about 40 foot behind the boat at about 6knts on the drop off between the 19 foot to 35 foot marks. Well this is the first report so I hope the fishing stays as good as it has been and that the information can help you find a table fish for dinner...
