There are good bream around Banksia and the Banksia Canals. The summer whiting are around the surf beaches in fair numbers and are good quality fish. There are also a few coming from the Southern Beaches. There are a few fair flathead around and are best from Red Beach, Buckley’s Hole, from opposite Cornets to the bridge on the drift, also from the bridge to Whitepatch and from over around Sandstone Point. There are some nice whiting with the flathead. The winter whiting are about in good numbers and are best from the Red Buoy in Deception Bay and from the Cockle banks as well as from the mouth of the Pearl Channel. Try the canals and the creek mouths for a decent mangrove jack or two as they are around and if it gets stormy they will be on the bite. Out in the Bay there are a few nice cobia around the Shipping Channel and the odd top quality snapper coming from the Tangalooma area. Outside there are a few good snapper around the Cape Reefs, good numbers of Cobia and a variety of fair quality reef fish, There are big numbers of small black marlin ranging in size from 20kg to 100kg so a bit of fun to be had here. They are coming from the Trench, from around Hutchies and from out off the Cape.
