BEACHMERE: Talk to Charlie or the boys at the Beachmere Sportfishing Club
Welcome to the New Year and a prosperous fishing 2013. The high tides and the windy weather have certainly sorted out the river, and has given it a really good flush out. There has been quite a lot of activity on the river over the Christmas period and some good catches. Whiting are being caught out the front of the river and along the front of the township of Beachmere and down to Burpengary Creek; they are good sized fish as well. Flathead lurk all over the river and the fisho's castings with plastics have been doing well.

Some nice bream in the river, from the private boat ramp to Goong Creek, and if you wish to venture further up, mangrove jacks have been caught up past Monties. Mudcrabs are appearing in the river, but you will have to duck the Pro Crabber, who has been working the river for over a month. It is sad in some ways, I realize everybody has to make a living, but don't take everything, and leave nothing for our children's, children

The Beachmere Sports Club has reported illegal activity on the river to Fisheries Queensland, and Brett Depper, District Manager, North Coast Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol, is working on the reports coming in. Brett is also sending along two officers to our monthly meeting to hear the concerns of our members, regarding illegal activity in the river and has promised to assist to clean it up. This is great news and we congratulate Mr Depper.

B.S.F.C. has a twenty four hour comp this weekend, so we will update you on the results next week. Watch this column as John Doohan will now have all the latest results. For those of you who are interested in fishing the Caboolture river and surrounding areas get off your butts and get over to the Beachmere Sportfishing Clubhouse and talk to the Fisheries boys at least they are making the effort to talk to you’ Cheers J. D.
