Weekly Report 3 Jun 13

Excellent 2 days as thought, the small ship channel next to the rouse was teaming with whiting and once you found them they were so plentiful we anchored up and caught our quota in about 2 hours. The "whiting master" was at his terrific best but had some opposition from another good friend "doctor spot". As mentioned we went straight over to the north side of Peel and the mail was correct as many schoolies as you could catch the only problem they were all 25 to 35 cm we only managed 4 over 50 which was fine as we had fun in catching and releasing. I have not seen that many small schoolies in the bay for years.

The tide turn was around 3.30pm on Friday night and we settled down for our squire fishing in the lazzarete, the tide was not perfect but 'doctor spot' managed three nice fish over 35 so he was very happy. Had a lovely dinner of fresh mackerel fillets and hot chips..and on for a good nights sleep. Saturday morning brought a little rain and a few boats around us in the lazzarete, good to see; the outgoing tide and the cloudy conditions proved to be excellent for 9 good squire around the 40 to 45 cm mark, all over by 8am time to fillet and of to see if the small mackerel had grown, no they had not so around 12 noon we headed over to the channel for some lunch and arrived home around 4pm with an esky full of lovely fish to eat..
Good fishing

well we tried mud thursday afternoon with no great results 2 fish one under and one over the limit ..for the ammount of boats there the fishing was not great ,but the weather was ...at least the small ships channel had some lovely whiting to be able to feed the family and grandkids ..had to drift off the spot to stop the" whiting master" from catching too many,as he addicted to whiting catching..lots of undersize schoolies in front of the lazzarete but we did not manage any over 50 c.m..but weather was fantastic.
good fishing and we will try again next week
