OFFSHORE
As the S/W winds continue the afternoons are looking a better option than the mornings. Some good fish are being caught with mackerel still very much on the go with dogs still around the Keppels and the spano’s a fair bit wider we have heard of a few grey mackerel down south Hummocky way. And for the boys who chase the red fish they are there on tide and gone the next this is probably due to the fluctuating wind conditions. Good trout are being caught in close, Man and Wife is a good spot to start. A good mix of hussar, spripey’s and sweetlip can be expected around the Keppels.

AWOONGA DAM
Still pretty quiet but we live in hope.

CANIA DAM (Helen)
Good news on the bass front as there are some good size bass being caught so this is great news some more restocking and the dam should be back on track, with such a great dam out there we can’t afford to lose it. Some good Yellow’s as well as toga’s to be caught here as well as a great place to visit or holiday with one of the best van parks I have ever seen.

FITZROY RIVER
Going quite well fished as a river in winter a few barra kicking around for the people putting in the hours. Water is about 17 deg quite a lot of blue salmon downstream and some good bream on the rocks around Nerimbera, fresh prawns is best bait for these guy’s and don’t forget the crab pots as there is still a crab around looks like they may go right through the winter.

CORIO BAY
Easily the pick of the estuary’s at present with all species playing the game at the moment at least Flathead, Bream, Salmon, Whiting, Barra - all catchable we have been using small Guzzlers these little plastic’s do go the numbers when it comes to your estuary species find some and give them a try. Small gulp will also catch fish as do the 4” split belly’s from Berkley.

COOROOMAN CREEK
Fish it the same as Corio Bay. Good flats fishing for Flathead and Whiting on the Keppel Sands side of the bay and there are patchy schools of salmon mainly blue going in and out of the creek all the time. When you come across a school of blue salmon don’t troll through the middle of the school you will break them up and send them down stay off the edge of the school and cast into the middle you can fish the school for around an hour if you are lucky just drift with them and stay a good cast away. Best lures are Flasha’s plastics work as well and you can sometimes get them to bite gold bombers.

PORT ALMA
The best place to catch crabs and salmon at the moment this weekend there are great tides to fish the port the rocks over in the Connors is worth a try for Grunter Bream Barra as well as salmon the run in tide seems to fish better and over the top for the bream as they move up onto the rocks to access the oyster shells. Grunter are where you find them the other fish worth a go is flathead look for those guy’s near the sand bars there is plenty of those.

CAUSEWAY LAKE
Perfect weather conditions for fishing the Causeway Lake system. Windy offshore so the lake is protected, cold south westerly’s clean up the water and overcast so you don’t get too burnt. Flathead is the target species and a well presented soft plastic should do the trick there is no run in the lake so small weight is the go.

BEDFORD WEIR BLACKWATER (Matthew)
Nil reports

COMET RIVER (Matthew)
Nil reports

CHARTER BOATS - KONOMIE DREAMING AND SPIRIT
The last trip was with the boy’s from the bush and they had a ball as usual plenty of fish caught and a cracker of a red emperor about 12 kg. Nice fish along with trout, blue tooth and a mixture of other fish they are out there if you get the chance to go.
