Weekly Report 14 Dec 11

Post by Brad » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:12 pm

The fishing on the Southern Downs looks great for the Christmas break with quality fish being landed in most locations.

The rivers to the south of Warwick are producing some nice Cod on surface lures. The Cod are feeding aggressively on the surface with large amounts of bugs around. The hot lure at the moment is the big Hydrobug Popper. The local dams have been fishing well up until the rain on the weekend. There were some good Goldens and a few small Cod being landed casting the edges. TN60 Jackalls and Jaz Syclon 50 seem to be the lures accounting for most fish. The fish are holding in 3 to 4 metres of water.

The local Bass dams are producing some nice Bass at present. They are being landed all over the dam at Moogerah using small crankbaits, blades and spinnerbaits. Maroon is also worth a try with most fish holding tight in the weed pockets, so don’t be afraid to tie on a Dog X Jnr or throw a spinnerbait up the creek. If you are in the local area, make sure you call in to Warwick Outdoors and Sports and say g’day to John and Wayne - for expert advice on all your fishing (from kids combo to tournament rigs), boating, hunting and camping requirements. We hope everyone has a great Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.
