Weekly Report 14 Feb 12

Post by Brad » Tue Feb 14, 2012 7:27 pm

The fishing over the last two months has been a bit erratic, with the rivers being the standout. There have been some nice fish landed on live bait and lures. There have been reports of several Cod, up to 15 pounds, being landed in the town reaches on hard body lures. The darker coloured lures seem to be the most popular at the moment.

The two local dams are still producing quality fish but you will have to work hard for them. The land based anglers at Connelly Dam are having good results on soft plastics. Rigging them weedless and casting the weed pockets is the method that seems to be working best. Leslie Dam still has some fish on the move, with some quality Silver Perch being landed on worms. There are also some larger Cod on the move with a 20 pounder being landed to the north.

Crestbrook Dam is fishing quite well with local anglers landing up to 20 Bass in a session. Most fish are falling to Blades. Moogerah is still worth the drive with some quality Bass being landed. The dam has a good rise so don’t expect to catch large numbers. However, the fish that have been landed have been nice fish. There are still some Boonah locals landing good fish at Maroon. The method to try is casting Spinnerbaits into the structure up the creek to the eastern end of the dam.

If you are in the local area, make sure you call in to Warwick Outdoors and Sports and say g’day to John and Wayne - for expert advice on all your fishing (from kids combo to tournament rigs), boating, hunting and camping requirements.
