Weeekly Report 18 May 12

Post by Brad » Fri May 18, 2012 8:25 pm

Leslie Dam: Leslie is still fishing quite well. There have been some good-sized Catties landed recently on live worms. There have been reports of Yellows being landed on frozen prawns. The lure anglers are also having success trolling along the old creek bank towards the Washpool. The lures of choice at present include Jackalls, Stumpjumpers and Boomerang 65. Spinnerbaits are always worth a try.

Connelly Dam: Things have been a little slow at Connelly. There has been some quality Silver Perch caught on worms on the eastern side towards the dam wall. Hopefully with the cooler weather, we will start to see a few Cod being landed.

Moogerah & Maroon Dams: The Bass anglers are still reporting some nice fish being landed at both Moogerah and Maroon. There have been some reports of good-sized Bass being landed at Maroon. Early morning surface is hard to beat. Blades and Jackalls seem to be working the best at Moogerah at the moment. Most of these fish are being caught in about 15 feet of water just off the timber.

Rivers: The rivers are the “Hot Spots” at present, with good fish falling in all areas. There have been reports of some great Yellows caught in the rivers to the west of Warwick using bibbed lures. Purple, green and black are the hot colours to try. There are some good Cod on the move around Stanthorpe. Big surface lures and spinnerbaits seem to be accounting for most of these fish. There was a massive 25kg Murray Cod landed at Glenlyon Dam recently on live bait. What an absolute beauty!
