Weekly Report 17 Jun 12

Leslie Dam: Leslie was fishing ok up until Saturday, with a few good Yellows landed at the Rocklands area on live shrimps. Most anglers were land based over the weekend due to the poor weather conditions. At times, Leslie Dam can fool you into thinking you are at the ocean with white caps appearing all over the dam. These conditions can be very dangerous for boaters. There have also been a few reports of some nice Catties caught on worms off the middle boat ramp. We have received no reports of any Cod landed this week.

Connelly Dam: Connelly Dam is not a bad spot to go when it is windy as it is quite easy to find a sheltered spot. There have been reports of a few Yellowbelly landed during the week on live bait and spinnerbaits. Jaz Spinnerbaits, with their multi-coloured blades, seem to be working very well at present. We have received a few reports of some nice Cod on the move at Connelly.

Moogerah Dam / Maroon Dam: Both dams are still fishing quite consistently, with some nice fish falling to live shrimp as well as a variety of lures. We have had reports from Moogerah that there are some good schools of Bass located to the western end of the dam. Make sure you use your finder to locate them. Don’t be afraid to tie on an ice-jig as these lures work very well.

Rivers: The rivers around Warwick and to the south are still fishing well, with some nice fish being landed in the town area. The fish are falling to a variety of lures and live bait. To the south, there are still some good Cod being caught on darker coloured lures, with purple spinnerbaits and black hard bodies the number one choice at present.

If you are in the local area, make sure you call in to Warwick Outdoors and Sports and say g’day to John and Wayne - for expert advice on all your fishing (from kids combo to tournament rigs), boating, hunting and camping requirements.
