Weekly Report 12 Jul 12

Leslie Dam: Leslie Dam is still slow with the odd fish falling to live shrimp. The fish are holding close to the edges. Spinnerbaits are a great option as they seem to be more snag resistant that most other lures. Jaz and Jackall Spinnerbaits are working well. There multi-coloured blades, with a stinger hook added, will improve hook-up rates. These stinger hooks are a special design with a larger eye so as not to impede with the lure action. We have had reports of a few Murray Cod being landed mainly on live bait.

Connelly Dam: Connelly is still quiet. The cooler water temperature in the winter months really slows down the movement of most fish species. As mentioned in previous reports, Connelly is a good dam to try in the cooler months as there are many places along the bank that are sheltered from the cold westerly winds. Moogerah Dam / Maroon Dam: There are some nice Bass falling in both of these impoundment dams. Bass tend to school in the winter months so soft plastics, blades and ice-jigs work well. Hopping Jackall Mask Vibes off the bottom seems to be working well at Moogerah.

Rivers: The rivers are producing some nice fish. There have been some nice Murray Cod landed in the rivers to the south of Warwick. The fish are falling to surface lures and smaller spinnerbaits. Darker colours seem to be having the most success. If you are in the local area, make sure you call in to Warwick Outdoors and Sports and say g’day to John and Wayne - for expert advice on all your fishing (from kids combo to tournament rigs), boating, hunting and camping requirements.
