Weekly Report 8 Jan 13

Post by Brad » Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:36 pm

Leslie Dam: The Golden Perch in Leslie are still quite active. There has been some quality fish landed in the main basin as well as in the narrow feeder creeks. These fish are being caught on most types of bait as well as several different types of lures. Anglers are having best results around in the Rocklands Reserve area. Live worms are working the best in this area. Trolling hard body lures along the bank in front of the Washpool has seen a few quality fish being landed. Murray Cod are also being caught in various spots around the dam. There were reports of two legal Cod landed in the top half of the dam during the week on spinnerbaits and several under sized ones landed on bait.

Connelly Dam: Anglers are reporting on some nice catches of both Silver and Golden Perch at Connelly. These fish have been landed towards the dam wall and along the south-eastern bank. Shrimps and worms seem to be working the best. There were also a few nice Goldens landed on small suspending hard bodys, with the pick being Jackall Squirrels and OSP Dunks.

Moogerah Dam / Maroon Dam: Moogerah is fishing better than Maroon at present, with anglers reporting on some healthy numbers. There has been plenty of small Bass landed in the main basin on blades and mask vibes. The bigger fish have been a little more tight lipped with the odd one falling to spinnerbaits from the edges. Regular Maroon anglers are reporting that fly is working the best at the moment. Fly is a great method to fish tight in the weed without too many dramas. There has also been a few fish landed on soft plastics.

Rivers: The Condamine River in the town area is fishing reasonably well at present with anglers landing some nice Golden Perch between Scots Weir and just below the Soccer Club. Darker coloured spinnerbaits are working the best, with the occasional fish being caught on bait. If you are in the local area, make sure you call in to Warwick Outdoors and Sports and say g’day to John and Wayne - for expert advice on all your fishing (from kids combo to tournament rigs), boating, hunting and camping requirements.
