Report 3/2/17

Post by subeditor » Fri Feb 03, 2017 2:43 pm

LESLIE DAM: Numbers have been down on previous weeks at Leslie. This is mainly due to the heavy boating traffic (particularly over the Australia Day public holiday and extra long weekend for some). Some anglers managed to land a few quality fish on Thursday (Australia Day), with most of these landed in the top section of the dam. Anglers casting lures had a little more success than trolling. Anglers over the weekend had success in the main basin. One local angler landed four Golden Perch from his kayak early on Saturday morning. These fish were landed on a Jackall mask vibe in front of the Washpool Camping Reserve. The bait anglers had reasonable success from both the bank and boat. The western bank, opposite the boat ramp, saw a few fish landed early on Saturday morning on shrimps. There were also some nice Golden Perch landed up near the Black Boys. Anglers are reporting on a few legal sized Murray Cod on the move, with several measuring between 65cm and 75cm.

CONNOLLY DAM: Angles at Connolly Dam reported on some quality Golden Perch being landed from their kayaks early on Saturday morning. The majority of these fish were landed on lures. There were also some big Silver Perch landed. We received a report of a local couple landing six legal sized Golden Perch and a handful of smaller fish on bait, with shrimps and crays proving to be the most successful. There were also reports of a few smaller Murray Cod on the move.

RIVERS AND CREEKS: The Condamine River continues to fish quite well, with reports of a few nice Golden Perch being landed in the town area. One local angler landed four Golden Perch downstream of the Victoria Street Bridge on worms. We received reports of some quality Golden Perch being landed behind the Redbacks Football Clubhouse on spinnerbaits. We also received reports of a few nice Murray Cod being landed on surface lures.
