Weekly Report 21 Mar 13

Post by Brad » Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:23 pm

G'day every one, rain or shine fishing is always fine. It has been excellent conditions for fishing on the weekend but just the wind picking up late in the arvo. There has been a couple prawns in the last few days, the main places were the greens in between the power lines and Jackson, Lamb & Karragarra Islands & near Redland bay, the hole in front of the barge terminal, some guys go half a bucket others go 1 full bucket load so hopefully we should see a lot more prawns in the coming week. The Early morning tides will be the key Thursday, Friday be there at the top of tide.

A heap of sand crabs have been caught out just around Peel and a little further north, mullet bait is the key, some pots had 20+ crabs 5 keepers, the boys and I dropped 8 pots in for 6 hours and pulled out 18 good sand crabs with 2 mud crabs, with the muddys they had eaten 8 sandys to themselves and the bait.Reports of a few Snapper caught up near the floating red marker at Coochie at anchor 35 to 40 cm, also drifting Potts Point about 20 to 24 feet has pulled a few fish in the 40+ range. Guys fishing for Whiting drifting the banks near Rous channel in about 4 feet caught some really good Snapper in the 60 cm+ on a nice piece of arrow squid and yes they also caught some good Whiting as well. Sharks have been a little problem if you start catching them it is best to move as the fish will be eaten before you get them to the boat. Some Parrot have also come from the end of Goat Island, there were some schools of Tailor in the same area as well. I hope u can get out over the week, from the crew at VP bait & Tackle, Frandon, Jo &
Justin.
