INSHORE
Moreton Bay has seen a vast number of small squire take up residence on all of the artificial reefs, and the reefs surrounding the bay islands. Tailor have been caught on the Pelican banks with a few flathead as well. Myora has been fishing well, however the tidal run is significant in this area so fishing either side of the tide is advised. The best bait has been mullet fillet and banana prawns.
In this area you have quite a few options to fish different depths and contour lines up to 17m. This is the perfect place to target parrot, with a rock crab as bait or half a sand crab.
The Rous channel has been fishing well for snapper and jewfish at the ledge. Once again, a little thought has to go into tide and wind direction, as with this location the secret is to fish horizontally to the drop-off. If your bait sits on top of the ledge the result will be small sweetlip and squire. Once you are anchored the best bait has been mullet fillet. The incoming tide fishes the best in this spot.
We are still seeing spotty mackerel throughout the bay. The four beacons have fished well, as has the Hope banks.
The prawns have been caught in great numbers in the Southern Bay, with the back of Lamb Island and the salt works being a couple of good locations to start looking. A good quality sounder is certainly a must-have when prawning.

OFFSHORE
Offshore has also benefited from the flush-out, with good reports of snapper, pearl perch and jew being caught, along with the occasional stray Spanish mackerel. The run offshore has been slight, and with the new moon the fish will be on the move again.
