Weekly Report 3/5/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri May 03, 2013 2:56 pm

Rain last 7 days: 6.8 mm
Water level current: 37.5 % Water level: 24/04/13 37.5%
Current discharge: 276 ML per day. Current inflow: 26 ML per day. Water visibility: up to 1.5m
Forecast Weather: Mostly sunny for the remainder of the week & weekend with a possible shower on Sunday. Temperature down to 4° on Thursday & a max of 22° for the weekend with light winds.
New moon May 10, full moon May 25. Water temperature 20°-22°
Murray Cod: Have been on the bite again this week. Several fish over 80cm were caught with the biggest reported 87cm. Trolling large hardbody lures in the Murrimbidgee River Arm & the Main Basin has been producing good numbers. We should be starting to see a few big fish being caught this time of year as the water cools and the big fish look to feed up before winter.
Yellowbelly: Have been biting very well with most fishers getting their bag limit (5) each day. Shrimp, worms and prawns are all doing the trick. Target the trees in deep water either side of the main river channels. Some big yellows are being caught with the biggest this week reaching 60cm with plenty over 50cm. Not too many reports from the lure fishermen but trolling or casting around the same trees should still be productive.
Redfin: Not as many reports this week with most of the fishers targeting the cod & yellows. The redfin are still around and are good fun for those that can locate a school. The Bidgee Arm off the sandy banks are still a good bet.
Trout: No reports this week.
Silver Perch: No reports
Carp: Still being caught throughout the dam with worms and corn favourite.
Park News: The kids are back to school and the grey nomads are on the move. The weather is still ideal through the day with a cosy camp fire at night. Ideal time to get in a fishing or camping trip now the crowds of summer are gone. Park office opening hours are now 9am-3.30pm 7 days per week.
