Weekly Report 19/6/13

Post by Tony Zann » Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:04 pm

Rain last 7 days: 40 mm
Water level current: 39 %
Water level: 29/05/13 38.6%
Current discharge: 474 ML per day.
Current inflow: 1510 ML per day.
Water visibility: up to 1.5 metres
Forecast Weather: Fine and cold through the week, possible showers on the weekend with temperatures between 1 & 13 deg Celsius
Full Moon: June 23rd
New Moon: July 8
Water Temperature: 12-14 deg
Murray Cod: Most anglers found it tough going this weekend despite the weather being bright sunny and calm, a bit cool in the mornings though. Anthony from Gundagai was one happy fisherman I spoke to with 2 good cod on Sunday measuring 68 and 98cm, both caught while trolling spinnerbaits. He followed up with a 65cm on Monday caught while trolling a Stucky. Most of the other fishos, including myself, were fishless. The fish were caught between Cathedral Rock and Wade Island. There were several boats further up the Bidgee with me that did no good.
The water temperature has continued to drop as the rain comes and the dam slowly rises. The big fish are still about for those willing to put in the time and brave the cool starts.
Golden Perch: No joy at all this week, There were not too many boats out over the weekend so it was a bit hard to get a good read on how active the golden perch still are. Waterways reported only finding six boats on the water on Sunday morning. The bait fishers have been the most successful over recent weeks. The fishing during the day tends to be a bit quieter coming off the full moon. Dusk through till dark being the better time for the tougher fishers who like it cold.
Redfin: Very quiet, a couple of small ones was it.
Trout: No reports this week. No one has really been out targeting them as yet. Last year we had a few good fish being picked up by bait fishers along the park foreshore.
Silver Perch: No reports this week
Park News: The new toilet block near the conference centre will be operational by the end of the month. We are also establishing a camp kitchen in that area over the next month or so and clearing some of the undergrowth to open up some more camping area.
